Brewing and Drinking Instructions

I have the bag at home. How do I make this?

It's simple, really. If you can make tea, you can make this because it's actually easier. Inside your muslin bag, your herbs are protected by a plastic bag for freshness. Start by removing the herbs from the bag and then pour them into your muslin bag. You are going to use this like a tea bag. Next pull out your Mason jar. For all the herbs and alcohol to fit inside, you need a Mason jar that can hold at least 750 ml plus a bit for the herbs. Next, drop the muslin bag inside. Pour your alcohol in the Mason jar, covering the bag. Did you forget to put the herbs in the bag and poured them right in the alcohol? Not a problem at all. Just move on to the next step and we will tell you what to do at the end. (See "My Absinthe is made. Now, how do I drink this?") Next thing you have to do it leave it in a cool, dry space. Your kitchen counter works just fine. The only decision you have to make at this time will be how long to leave the herbs in your alcohol. If you want a standard-strength bottle of absinthe, leave it in there for 15 to 17 days. For the most robust absinthe, leave in there for 30-35 days.  These instructions are all based on an alcohol of about 35-45% alcohol by volume. If yours is much stronger or weaker than this, please feel free to contact us, and we can give you a more precise time estimate for your particular alcohol.

My absinthe is made. Now, how do I drink this?

Here comes the part you have been waiting for. Time to drink your absinthe. Take one ounce of your absinthe and pour it into your glass. Now you have a couple of options. I'll list them below.

Traditional way to drink absinthe:

After you add your one ounce to the glass, pour 2-4 ounces of very cold water over a sugar cube to sweeten your absinthe, mix and enjoy.

A Le Loup Garou variation:

After you add your one ounce to the glass, take 2 ounces of a simple syrup and mix with your absinthe. Mix well. Add in an additional 1-2 ounces of very cold water.

Variation number two: After you add your one ounce to the glass, take 2 ounces of a simple syrup and mix with your absinthe. Then add in your favorite mixers to the absinthe. Play around with recipes and make your favorite mixed drinks with the absinthe as your base. On Facebook, we have posted an abundance of different recipes for you to try.

Variation number three:

There are a lot of our flavors people enjoy straight out of the bottle. Our suggestion - play around with it. Mix it with sodas, juice, or other alcohols. Have fun with the experience!
